Allen is a popular, family-dense suburb — but if you’re set on a brand-new home, it’s important to know up front: Allen is largely built out, so new construction is more limited here than in the fast-growing cities further north.
What’s realistically available
You’ll find some new construction — infill homes, smaller new communities, and the occasional rebuild — but the bulk of Allen’s inventory is resale, with typical pricing around $400K–$700K. If new construction is a hard requirement, you may have more options in Melissa, Celina, or Prosper. If you’re open to resale, Allen offers a lot of home and a strong family feel at a reasonable commute.
If you do buy new in Allen
The standard new-construction rules still apply:
- Bring your agent on the first visit — paid by the builder, protects you.
- Compare the builder’s lender to an outside quote before taking a rate buydown.
- Spend on lot and structure, go light on the design center.

The honest take
Allen is a great fit for buyers who want space and community at a solid commute and are flexible on new vs. resale. If you must have new, let’s widen the search to the growth corridor.
